基隆級飛彈驅逐艦原為美海軍紀德級艦，分於2005年至2006年間交艦，分別命名為「基隆」、「蘇澳」、「左營」與「馬公」軍艦，目前駐地於海軍蘇澳軍港，隸屬海軍一六八艦隊。

該艦具有強大的防空、反水面、反潛及戰場管理能力，可擔任作戰支隊旗艦，控制重要海域阻敵進犯，亦可於作戰中心與戰管中心遭受損毀時，擔任備援。
